Evaluating Postgraduate Teachers: Variables and Influencing Factors
Keywords:
Teacher evaluation, education of education, teacher’s skills, postgraduateAbstract
This article introduces the findings of a research project on evaluating the performance of teachers at the postgraduate level. Through qualitative and quantitative methods, various sources of information were used to that end; namely, students, teachers and immediate superiors. Statistical models were constructed to determine the weight of the variables examined in the final perception of performance. The conclusions underscore the advanced skill teachers possess from a disciplinary standpoint, as opposed to the negative opinions of the students with respect to their competence as teachers. On the other hand, teachers have a positive attitude towards generating opportunities within the university to reflect on teaching topics, so as to qualify the work and to optimize teaching-learning processes in postgraduate school.
