El Marco Sociocultural de la Educación para la Paz
Abstract
Taking culture as peaceful coexistence in diversity, the author invites readers to think about a socio-cultural framework to develop education for peace, based on enabling elements, such as pacifistic sensitivity, solidarity as a justice duty, and university ethics, and values like gratitude, self control, and self demand. He considers it is worth questioning the educational discourse in front of everyday experience where children and young people perceive a violent reality which demands the overcoming of the dominant utilitarianism. He recognizes that the postindustrial culture does not offer enough space for contemplation, which transcends the sense of respect towards the person and projects the value of human life in the context of a cultural reality. The author presents dialogue as an absolutely essential dimension for the construction of peace, replacing positivist thinking for an ethos of respect towards human reality.Downloads
