Teaching the concept of learning to learn as part of the purpose of integral education requires students to be aware of the multiple thinking operations they use when performing a task; these operations include concept formation, reasoning, problem solving, and critical thinking. Together with the identification, stimulation and handling of these processes, it is important to teach students to recognize and take advantage of their own thinking style, for these are the tools that will help them develop their metacognitive strategies. These strategies constitute the foundation for students to take responsibility for their permanent educational process and the achievement of ef cient performance within their environment.
