La escuela y la formación de competencias sociales: un camino para la paz
Keywords:
Political socialization, Role of the school, Citizenry, democracy, Educational policies.Abstract
In the present context, formation for competences has turned into a strong tendency in educational discourse. This not withstanding, educational institutions have focused on the formation of cognitive competences and have forgotten that the school is a privileged socialization space for the development of social competences. Formation for respect and tolerance, among other social competences, empowers the elements of democratic culture that the school must favour as a contribution to the formation of new generations.
The following text offers a theoretical revision aimed at documenting the role of the school as an instance of political socialization.
