Abstract

Given the powerful and overwhelming educational influence of mass media on the global society, this paper aims at proposing the implementation, in Argentina, of the so-called Media Literacy. The nature of this discipline is described, and an explanation is given of the need for it. Its application, objectives and methodology are also elucidated. Likewise, the paper describes the educational policies that should be implemented for its right undertaking as a transverse content in the Argentinean educational reform after the enforcement of the Federal Law of Education. In addition, it identifies those responsible for its adequate application and finally, it views the guidance and training of teachers in this area as a paramount task of the University.
