Abstract

The arrival, in large numbers, of foreign immigrants from several nationalities into the Spanish context, has meant a radical change in the human landscape of many of our towns and municipalities. Educating at the same time people from different cultures implies working towards attaining a common cultural space which does not mean losing identity but its enrichment, and a mental and vital aperture to differences. This paper describes the different measures and actions being developed in order to respond to the educational challenge posed by the presence of immigrant students in the classrooms of Spain in general and of Andalusia in particular.
