In Colombia, as in many other developing countries, access to public assets, such as education and knowledge, by the whole population has not been achieved. This has worsened the situations of inequity and injustice, weakened the conditions for peace, made the problems of social and economic backwardness worse, and caused the possibilities of the country to compete in the globalized world more distant.
The degree at which the coverage of higher education can be socially extended is a basic criterion of its equity and social appropriateness. This, in turn, leads to the democratization of access opportunities. In this sense, Colombia is showing signs of serious problems
