The relationship between neurosciences and education moves between detractors and defenders, with intermediate movements that call for dialogue and collaboration in the search for mutual benefit. The results of neuroscientific researches have become a possibility to contribute to the improvement of educational processes and to the solution of learning issues. This article aims to review the contributions of neurosciences to education, particularly to factors related to the sociocultural context that influence learning. The review is limited to the 2002-2014 period through research in databases and international systems that demonstrate the relationship between neurosciences, education and the social environment. Factors like health, living environment, physical exercise, and other aspects such as plasticity, brain maturity and mirror neurons are relevant to consider the influence of the sociocultural environment over education.
