The article introduces a model to encourage a written culture at the university level, which includes meaningful knowledge to develop the effective capacity to identify and solve problems. The learning process was tested in several undergraduate and postgraduate courses at four universities in Colombia, both public and private. The question was: What learning process and educational strategies help to foster a written culture of a scientific investigative nature among university students? The results of the learning process described in the article include 27 business plans designed at the undergraduate level at the Universidad de La Sabana, 25 business plans at the Universidad Nacional, four documents in article form at the Universidad Externado de Colombia, four at the postgraduate level at the Universidad de La Sabana, and five articles at the Universidad de Nariño, also at the postgraduate level. These results support the validity of the tools that were designed, as well as the educational strategies and the teaching-learning process that guides the work of teachers on behalf of a written culture at the university level.
