Abstract

This article aims to determine, from an Arendtian perspective, the foundations of an education based on the freedom of the individual. It is part of a theoretical reflection that served as the foundation for the defense of the doctoral thesis “The Meaning of Plurality in Hannah Arendt as a Philosophical Foundation of Education, a Space of appearance that Shapes Political Subjects.” The article is the result of qualitative research that employed the hermeneutic method for interpreting categories derived from primary and secondary sources subjected to content analysis. The article emphasizes a reinterpretation of the educational sphere as a public sphere that produces political subjects based on a new conception of freedom. This freedom is founded not on the instrumentalization of the individual but rather viewed as an inseparable category of action and discourse resulting from the appearance of the learner in scenarios of spontaneous participation. In this sense, the act of educating transcends purely formal and is configured as a space that forms the foundation of democracy.
